The Return of the Buddha

The Return of the Buddha was a 1,500 sq ft exhibition designed over the course of my summer internship at the Walters Art Museum and opening in the Fall of 2018. This one-object installation focused on the Walters’ renowned 6th-century lacquer Buddha, the earliest surviving object of its kind.

This exhibit was particularly interesting as it was developed by the Walters’ conservation team. They revealed fascinating information about the Buddha’s construction and its origins, emphasizing the sophisticated materials and artistry involved in its creation.
